Many people who call Everett home also commute South into Seattle or Bellevue via I-5 or I-405.

I recently published a video about Living in Everett on YouTube and one of the locals said he was concerned about homelessness and drug use in Everett. This is how I responded.

There are definitely sketchy areas of Everett. I find I observe a lot of this type of activity in the downtown area near the courthouse. There is also a prison here. Not sure if prisoners are released in this area.

I had a client who was a police officer, and he said that they had a lot of crime in South Everett along highway 99 as well.

I once talked to an appraiser during the price run-up years and he said that a lot of the appreciation seemed to be passing Everett by.

The good news is that it’s still affordable, and for some people, a very convenient location, so it’s good to know where to go to be safe. I know a family that lives in the suburbs and they have a quiet, normal neighborhood, just like everyone else.

I have other clients who bought a condo here with a duck pond, and it was a nice home that was affordable for them and felt safe – even if their grocery store was super sketchy! Maybe one day they will rent it out to another couple just starting out and move into something better with the equity that they’ve built up.
