The holiday season isn’t just about festivities—it’s also a great time to explore home buying opportunities. While most people are busy with holiday plans, savvy buyers can take advantage of a quieter market with less competition. Winter often brings motivated sellers who are eager to close before year-end, creating the perfect conditions for securing a great deal on your dream home.
Beyond the market advantages, the winter season offers a unique charm when viewing homes decorated for the holidays. It’s the ideal time to see how cozy a home feels and imagine yourself celebrating in the space. In this article, we’ll explore why winter could be the right time for your next move and how you can navigate the market while still enjoying the holiday season.

Cherishing Family Time This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to slow down, gather around, and focus on what truly matters—spending quality time with family.
This year, we will be doing this on Thanksgiving Weekend:
Wednesday: Making Pies – Apple x 3, Blueberry and maybe a new flavor….
Thursday: Making Vegetables & Pumpkin Bread for our TG Potluck at my sister’s house in Shoreline.
Friday: Tootling around town with out of town family to see the sites and sounds of Christmas in Seattle.
Last year, we took our relatives for a gorgeous walk in Discovery Park and then to see the Christmas decorations in downtown Seattle. Bonus: Lots of walking-off-the-leftovers!
In the past we’ve also really enjoyed going to Swanson’s Nursery in Ballard to see all their Christmas decorations, including an amazing train set. In the past they’ve had reindeer come and visit, but I’m not sure whether they’ve resumed that, after COVID.
This season, consider starting a new family tradition or reviving an old one that brings everyone closer. Try going around the table to share what each person is grateful for, host a family movie marathon, or get creative with a Thanksgiving-themed craft project for all ages.
However you spend the long weekend, Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate togetherness and embrace the warmth of family. 🧡
