One Useful Seattle Trick

Use Westlake as a Downtown-to-Seattle-Center Connection

If your day involves both downtown and Seattle Center, you do not necessarily need to move your car.

The Seattle Center Monorail connects Westlake Center downtown with Seattle Center in less than two minutes. Trains generally run frequently, making it a simple bridge between the two parts of the city.

Seattle Center is also served by multiple King County Metro routes, so I would check the current trip planner before assuming driving is the easiest choice.

There Are Garages, But Busy Days Can Change the Math

Seattle Center operates the 5th Avenue N Garage and the Mercer Street Garage. Parking rates fluctuate with demand, and most spaces are first come, first served unless they have been presold or otherwise reserved.

On a busy event weekend, I would allow time to park and walk rather than planning to arrive at the exact event start time.

March in Seattle is usually cool and changeable. Daytime temperatures are commonly in the 50s, and rain is always plausible enough that I would plan for it.

St. Patrick’s Day itself is always March 17, but Seattle’s larger celebrations do not necessarily happen on that exact date.

The parade, Irish Festival, St. Patrick’s Day Dash and other Irish Week activities may take place on nearby weekends or on different days throughout March.

Not necessarily. Downtown and Seattle Center both have transit options, and the Monorail provides a particularly simple connection between Westlake Center and Seattle Center.
