Remember this feeling?
When you were in school and you had to spend that week before finals cramming, hoping you would do well, but wanting to study your tail off anyway, just so you could feel you “did your best” even if the test results somehow went terribly wrong?
Well, that’s what we have been going through at home.
And…
My kids made it through finals this week!
As a kid, it seemed SO GRUELING to work so hard, and for so many long hours – worrying about how things would turn out. (As an adult, that’s called “Tuesday.”)
I remember when I was in college, there was nothing better than that feeling of running out of the exam room after the last final, throwing my books in the air, and frolicking in a sunny meadow filled with wildflowers.
Okay, maybe that’s not quite how it went, but I did feel like a burden was lifted from my shoulders.
Every. Single. Time.
In keeping with the mood, my friend and I decided to surprise the kids by picking them up from school and taking them out to a special lunch at Chik-Fil-A.
Now.
I know everyone “loves” Chik-Fil-A.
(I had it for the first time in North Carolina in college, and I remember being embarrassed after pronouncing it “Chick – Fill – Uh”. I was more of a purist when it came to phonics.)

ANYWAY. I am not a big, huge Chik-Fil-A fan.
I’m not a hater either, but I just don’t get enough food there. It is not filling. I had what seemed to be one of their bigger sandwiches – the one with bacon and grilled chicken.
Then, I went home and ate fried eggs, salad, and a pear.
When I eat – I like to EAT!! – but I’m also trying to eat healthy-ish.
Maybe things would go better for me if I would get the fries and breaded chicken.
Nevertheless…. Hunger pangs aside… I’m not holding a grudge.
The main thing is – the KIDS enjoyed it! We had a happy time and everyone chose to rock out to “Hit The Road Jack” on the way home, which seems to be one of the few goods (oldies) songs they know.
Next time we go out to celebrate… I might have to take them to Chipotle! Who’s with me?!?!
