How I Work With Buyers and Sellers

Buying a Home on the Eastside

I love working with home buyers in every situation… whether you are buying your first home, downsizing into something easier to manage, or looking for an investment property.

I have been an investor since 2002, so I look at every house from an investment perspective, as well as whether it is a happy fit for you!

Selling a Home on the Eastside

Sellers usually want three things… the most money, a fast closing, and no glitches along the way.

I have built my systems around getting you those results, and they hold up even in a challenging market. I was a Phi Beta Kappa kind of student, so yes, I call my method A-PLUS, and I still like turning in A-plus work.

Why I Like the Eastside

Kirkland: A Little Hoity-Toity, in a Good Way

The Eastside has felt newer and fancier for a long time, and I always feel a little hoity-toity when I go there. It might be lunch at a lakefront cafe with a friend on my birthday, or lunch with a luxury client while we tour $2 million homes in the area. Either way, it has a refreshing feel.

I took sailing lessons with a friend, and now she has a sailing club pass that lets her take a boat out anytime. We both enjoy time on the water. Even if you never touch a boat, Kirkland has a lot of great parks and waterfront to enjoy. There is a pool over by the Google campus, too, and a lot of great restaurants.

One of our family favorites is Cactus, a healthy Mexican-style restaurant. I love an outdoor table in the summer, where I can people watch and soak up the warm weather. Lots of people get an ice cream cone and walk around or sit by the fountain. There are buskers, and people with really fancy cars, like Bentleys, come park and show off a little. For the Fourth of July the neighborhood fills with planters and red, white and blue bunting. It feels like a very fun waterfront town.

Two things to know. There is a lot of construction going on near the waterfront, and everybody wants to be walkable to the beach. Kirkland does not have as many hills or views as some of the places on Puget Sound, but it has enough to keep real estate prices high.

Bellevue Square, Snowflake Lane and a $300 Pair of Jeans

In Bellevue, we love going to Bellevue Square. It is a high-end, upscale shopping area, so be prepared for that, although not everything is fancy. I went in once with my daughter, and she tried on jeans at the Levi’s store. They were cute on her, but they cost $300, so we left them there.

At Christmas, Bellevue Square has Snowflake Lane, a free holiday parade with drummers and dancers and snow falling most evenings. It starts at 7 p.m., so check the dates before you go. My son’s school once took the whole group to an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse in downtown Bellevue for a fancy field trip, kind of like a prom.

What Eastside Homes Cost

I sold a condo in Redmond last winter, and I have sold three-bedroom homes in this area for $1 million, with prices going up from there. The Eastside has historically been a very popular place to live, and in my experience it is one of the most expensive areas to buy real estate in Washington State. If that fits your budget, call me and we will find the right place.

Buying on the Eastside: Commutes and Bridges

Traffic on I-405, SR 520 and I-90 can add real time to your day. Drive your commute at the hour you would actually make it before you fall in love with a house.

Other Places to Look

Want to be closer to downtown Seattle? Look at Seattle city neighborhoods. Want a different feel? Look at the suburbs north of Seattle. Willing to drive south? Look at South King and Pierce Counties. I work in all of them, so call me and I will help you compare.
